W: Yes. I’ve been burgled.

M: Just give me your address, madam, and our cars will be with you in a couple of minutes.

W: Well, I live at 24 Green Mansions.

M: When did it happen?

W: Well, we got home from the theater about half past ten. And we found that the house had been broken into. Not from the front door. I don’t know how they got in.

M: Now what time did you leave the house?

W: Seven o’clock.

M: So the burglary happened when you were away. Do you have any idea what has been taken?

W: Well, my radio is missing. I don’t know what I’m going to do without it. I had it by my bed to listen to on Sunday mornings.

M: Anything else?

W: My jewels on my dressing table have gone. Luckily, I didn’t leave any cash in my house.

W: It’s three hundred dollars a month … Here we are. This is the living room. The kitchen is on your left.

W: By the way, we don’t allow any pets here.

M: I see. What about decorating?

W: If you decide to move in, we will repaint the apartment on the condition that you can rent it for two years.

M: That means if I stay for one year, there will be no redecorating at all?

W: That’s right.

M: If I decide to take it, how soon could I move in?

W: You can move in at any time you like. As you can see, it’s already cleaned up.

M: I like this apartment very much, but I’d like to know my wife’s and kids’ opinions. I’ll come back this evening with them. Will that be convenient?

W: That’s fine with me.

Boys and girls, I’m going to announce some exciting news to you! We’ve decided to raise a dog named Penny in our school! And Penny is a black dog and only 30 days old. Today Penny will make her first appearance. Penny will work on a project called Raising a Guide Gog by Students.

As we know, a guide dog is a dog specially trained to guide a blind person. When Penny grows up to 90 days old, she will be tested for intelligence and personality. If she can pass the test, she will become a guide dog. Everyone is welcome to join in the project. And each class has different duties as follows.

Some students will help run a special Internet page all about Penny on the website. In speech

and communication class, students will write the questions and conduct the interviews on the website. Students in English class will update the daily information that appears on the page and respond to all the emails addressed to Penny! The geography class will help them to do the same work as the English class. In life skills class, students with behavior problems or learning disabilities will look after pet Penny. It will teach the students about the responsibilities of caring for a dog and improve their behavior, too.
