第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Whether you are in a professional or social environment, treat other people with respect. While everyone is different, all people like to be treated with dignity, treated fairly and made to feel as though they matter. Keeping a few rules in mind regarding how to show respect will resolve problems easily when they occur. 36
 Punctuality
Be punctual. Actions speak louder than words, and one of the easiest ways to send a nonverbal message of disrespect to someone is by showing up late for an appointment or meeting. One tip for ensuring that you are punctual is to pretend that the appointment is 15-30 minutes before its actual time. 37
 Listening to others
Showing respect for others includes allowing them to speak uninterrupted, listening to what they are saying and acting on reasonable requests that they have for improving the relationship. If another person is explaining something to you, when he is finished, repeat your understanding of the conversation to assure him that you are on the same page. Listening is one of hardest, yet simplest things to do to demonstrate respect. 38
Empowering others
Respecting people involves not just allowing for differences in terms of their goals and ambitions, but going one step further and encouraging them to follow their dreams, no matter how far-fetched or impossible they may be. Discouraging people from achieving their goals can come across as condescending(居高临下的) from their view points. 39
Manners
Do not underestimate the power of manners as a way of showing respect. 40
Likewise, refrain from speaking loudly on a cell phone in public places or texting while you are in the company of others.
A.You do not think their time is valuable.
B.And it belittles their sense of ability and importance.
C.Events beyond your control may make it impossible to arrive on time.
D.And it will also reduce the likelihood that interpersonal disputes will arise.
E.This allows you extra time in case an unexpected event (e.g. traffic) occurs.
F.Saying “please”, “thank you” and “you’re welcome” develops goodwill between people.
G.Because the natural tendency is to talk, few people are capable of truly listening.
